At Luminous Vision Eyecare, we believe that precise measurements are essential for comfortable, effective vision correction. Our Eaglet Eye Surface Profiler (ESP) provides detailed imaging of the eye's surface to help us customize specialty contact lenses for patients in Coconut Creek, Parkland, FL, and surrounding communities.

This advanced technology allows us to evaluate the unique shape of your eyes, supporting more personalized contact lens fittings, particularly for patients with irregular corneas or complex vision needs.

What Is the Eaglet Eye Surface Profiler?

The Eaglet Eye Surface Profiler is an advanced diagnostic device that creates a three-dimensional map of the eye's front surface. Unlike traditional corneal topography, which primarily measures the cornea, the ESP captures detailed measurements of both the cornea and sclera, the white portion of the eye.

Using advanced imaging technology, the device measures hundreds of thousands of points across the eye's surface. This information helps us understand its unique contours and select contact lens designs that better accommodate each patient's anatomy.

At our Coconut Creek-Parkland eye care practice, we use detailed diagnostic information to guide individualized specialty contact lens fittings.

Benefits of the Eaglet Eye Surface Profiler

The Eaglet Eye Surface Profiler offers several advantages for patients who require specialized contact lens fittings, including:

Detailed Eye Mapping: Captures precise measurements of the cornea and sclera to support customized lens designs.
Improved Lens Fit: Helps us identify differences in eye shape that may affect contact lens positioning and comfort.
Personalized Contact Lenses: Provides measurements that support individualized specialty lens fitting.
Efficient Fitting Process: May reduce the need for repeated lens adjustments by providing detailed measurements from the beginning.
Noninvasive Imaging: Uses light-based technology to collect eye surface measurements without physical contact with the eye.

Who Can Benefit From Eaglet Eye Surface Profiling?

The Eaglet Eye Surface Profiler is particularly useful for patients who have difficulty wearing traditional contact lenses or require more specialized vision correction.

Patients with keratoconus, irregular corneas, or certain changes following eye surgery may benefit from detailed eye surface measurements. The technology is especially valuable when fitting scleral contact lenses, which vault over the cornea and rest on the sclera.

ESP measurements can also support the fitting of rigid gas-permeable, hybrid, and orthokeratology (Ortho-K) lenses when appropriate.

If you have experienced persistent discomfort, unstable vision, or difficulty achieving a satisfactory contact lens fit, our team in Coconut Creek, FL, can evaluate your eyes and determine whether advanced surface mapping may be beneficial.

What to Expect During an Eye Surface Profiling Appointment

During your appointment, we will position your head comfortably in the imaging device while you look toward a designated target. Special eye drops may be applied to help the equipment capture accurate measurements.

The Eaglet Eye Surface Profiler then collects detailed information about your eye's surface, creating a three-dimensional map that we can analyze.

We use these measurements alongside your eye examination and visual needs to guide specialty contact lens selection. Additional fitting assessments and follow-up visits may be necessary to evaluate lens comfort, positioning, and vision.
